Research Interests

Wheat and barley molecular genetics: Fusarium head blight (FHB), developing and integrating genomics resources in breeding programs, identifying genetic variation in wild barley for germplasm enhancement, and genetically characterizing barley tillering mutants.

Bio

Gary Muehlbauer’s work is focused on wheat and barley molecular genetics. His lab’s research is directed towards several areas, including Fusarium head blight (FHB) of wheat and barley and developing and integrating genomics resources into barley breeding programs. Gary’s other interests involve identifying genetic variation in wild barleys for use in germplasm enhancement, and to genetically characterize a collection of barley tillering mutants.
