Our research investigates how the mechanical properties of complex microenvironments — including structured hydrogels and dense suspensions — shape bacterial behavior, motility, and community organization. By combining soft matter physics, mechanical engineering and biology, we aim to uncover how mechancal cues govern microbial ecology and motion in structured environments, with implications for engineering living systems relevant to bioremediation, wastewater treatment, and biotechnology applications.
