My lab is generally focused on developing data mining and machine learning methods for integrating and analyzing large-scale genomic data to predict gene function and/or infer biological networks. One specific focus is the analysis of genetic interaction networks, which are derived from observing quantitative phenotypes of combinatorial mutants and finding combinations of mutations that result in surprising outcomes. A recent related focus is to integrate these genetic interaction data with chemical genetic data to systematically characterize how chemicals interact with eukaryotic cells. We work on a variety of species and systems, with a primary emphasis on yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae), and human.
